THE HYDES GEM BURLESQUE AND COMEDY COMPANY.
The steamer from Aucklrnd brought Mr. J. P. Hydes and his Star Company of male and female artists, fourteen m number — whose names, so well-known at all the leading theatres m the Colony, will be found a substantial guarantee of their talent m the respective rules they appear m. The Hyde entertainments are suited to the taste 3 of the times. There is nothing heavy ; nothing prolonged, or dragged out merely to constitnte a performance. There is good singing by accomplished vocalists. There is graceful dancing, clever acting, a first-class orchestra ; the mountings excellent the dresses superb ; and the actresses, from a thorough knowledge of their parts, playing well up to each other. The pieces consist of sparkling comedies, laughable burlesques, travesties, all intermingled and interspersed with humorous and pointed dialogue. AH of which offer a night's entertainment oi a kind not before witnessed m Gisborne. t There will be an entire change ofprogramme each evening. The full programme of this evening's Deiformance appears m our advertising columns.
