February 23. The total reserve in notes and bullion in the Bank of England is £18,000,000. The Victorian Embassy are to meet the Secretary for the Colonies on Wednesday next. The Bank of England reserve is stronger. No new feature in the Stock Market. Government Debentures quiet. Victorian securities are lower. The wool sales are showing symptoms of weakness, prices now ruling at 10 per cent, lower than at last February sales. , Colonel Stanley, Under Secretary-for-War, has been authorised to express to General Lord Chelmsford, Commander-in-Chief of Natal, the sympathy and confidence of the Queen. The Army Estimates amount to £16.625,000, being a decrease of £2.156,250. The Greek Archbishop has been murdered in the streets of Adrianople by Bulgarian refugees. Isaac Butt, Home Ruler, is seriously ill. Undated. The Queen sympathises with the suf* ferers at the Cape, and applauds the valour of the troops. The Ameer at Cabul is dying from gangrene in an old wound. The Home Ruler, Butt, is moribund. February 24th. The death of the Duke of Newcastle ia announced.
