THE RECREATION GROUND.

. A meeting of the Recreation Ground Committee was held at the Turanganui Hotel last night. There were present — Captain Winter (in the chair), Messrs E. K. Brown, Stubba Walker, Lawrence, and Berry. The Chairman informed the Committee that the annual match between the Napier and Poverty Bay Cricket Clubs was arranged to come off early next week ; and it was necessary that the ground should be put in order at once. Resolved that Mr. Walker and Mr. E. K Brown be authorised to engage two men to clear, and prepare the ground at once. On the motion of E. K. Brown, it was decided to place the sale of the gate, publicans, and refreshments booths in the hands, of Messr.3 Ferris and Pitt, to sell on Friday next 24th instant. Proposed by Captain Winter that Mr. A. Walker be Secretary and Treasurer to Committee. .Seconded by Mr. Lawrence, and carried. The Secretary was authorised to get 250 season tickets printed at once and distribute among the members of the committee for disposal to the public. Captain Winter informed the Committee that he had seen the roler belonging to the Cricket Club that day in the cemetery. Mr. Berry kindly proffered the loan of two horses to bring it down which offer was willingly accepted. It was also decided to have a well sunk. Captain Winter contributing a pump, Mr. Walker the timber, Mr. Lawrence the fixing, and Messrs Brown and Stubbs a cask and sledge for taking water on the ground. The meeting was then adjourned till Friday next, the 24th inst, at 8 p.m.
