We mentioned m our Saturday's issue that a communication had been receieved from Dr. Lemon, General Manager of Telegraphs, stating that telegraphic communication would be extended to Ormond, upon a guarantee being given by six settlers undertaking to indemnify the department against loss to an extent not exceeding £60 m any one year. There need not be the least fear of any guarantor being called upon to make good his share of the indemnity, as there can be no doubt whatever but that a line between Gisborne and Ormond will pay all working expenses, and then leave a mai'gin of profit to the Telegraph Department. We trust, then, there will be no delay m the guarantee being given. It will be a convenience alike to the public and the Press. The Herald will certainly place itself m daily communication with Ormoud for the benefit of its many readers.
