The following items of English shipping are from the European Mail :— The new screw steamer Glenelg built and engined by Messrs Blackwood and Gordon, for Captain McGregor, of Auckland, went down the Clyde on November 2nd, on her trial trip, and returned m the evening. After adjusting compasses, the steamer proceeded to Wemyss Bay, where she measured mile four different times, and attained a speed of 10£ knots, which was satisfactory to both owner and builders. The Glenelg proceeds, under steam, to Auckland, where she will be engaged m carrying cargo and passengers between that port and Tauranga. The French barque Ulyesse, from Dunedin to Cape Town, touched the ground m Torres Straits, and made jettison of her cargo to the extent of about 40 tons. She was to discharge and dock for repairs. The Sarco, a vessel of 820 tons register, commenced loading at London for Auckland on November 12th. The ship City of Dublin from Wellington, while attempting to cross the bar of the Columbia River without a pilot on October 18th, ran on the Middle Sands, and was totally wrecked. The barque Star of the North 663 tons register, sailed from London for Auckland on November loth, and passed Deal on the 18th. The tonnage loading on the berth at London on November 21st for Australia and New Zealand amounted to 37,588 tons.
