COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.
At the meeting of the Cook County Council on Friday, there were present, the Chairman and Councillors Graham, Locke, McKay, Porter and Wi Pere. It was resolved that the Press be requested to give publicity to the letter from the Commissioner of Telegraphs re-extension of lines to Ormond. That the Minister of Public Works be requested to expend here a portion of the vote of £20,000 for improvement of road m native districts, and also of the vote of £15,000 for opening roads to and purchased by Government. That
the Commissioner of Telegraphs be requested to expend a portion of the vote of £5000 (for extension of lines) m extending the wire to Ormond and to Tologa Bay. It was decided after some deliberation. That the various Road Boards should erect and maintain the Culverts joining Roads within their jurisdiction to County Roads. The Engineer was instructed to inspect the Arai and choose a site for a Bridge. The Clerk was instructed to notify tomorrow that the Valuation Roll is open for inspection. Councillor McKay moved that the Pipiwake Road be proclaimed a County Road. Councillor Locke, proposed that the Native Minister be asked to expend a portion of the £20,000 voted for opening roads m native districts m making a road from Waipiro to Makarika and that Councillor Porter's motion shall be held over till an answer be received. It was resolved to confer with the Borough as to laying the rails. The Clerk was instructed to summon all defaulting ratepayers forthwith. Next meeting on Friday the 7th Feby at 7.30 p.m.
