DEPARTURE.

January 14— Rangatira, Evans, master, for Napier, and Wellington. EXPORTS. * Per Rangatira : 62 sacks potatoes, Kelly.

On the last trip of the Arawata to Melbourne, and while proceeding up Hobson's Bay on Boxing Day, she was run into by the steamer Albatros, which was crowded with excursionists on a pleasure trip. There was great excitement on board the excursion steamer, and several of the passengers jumped on board the Arawata, thinking the Albatross was going to sink. Fortunately no one was injured. The Albatross had one of her paddle-boxes smashed, but the Arawata was uninjured. No blameisattached to Captain Underwood, who fired a gun and blew the whistle on seeing the excursion steamer approaching.
