THE FIRE BELL.
To the Editor of the Evening Herald. Sir, — In reference to your remarks m your last evening's issue, as to present site and removal of the fire bell, I think it would be unwise to remove it, as it is about central, taking the business premises and private residences together, and if, as you surmise, there is a balance m hand, from the subscriptions collected for the present bell, 1 would suggest it be expended m the. purchase of a new one, for the lower end of the town. If there be not suilicieiit for that purpose, and as it id desirable there should be a fire bell, '* where the buildings ara densest." I, for one, would glacUy subscribe towards the new purchase. 1 am &c, Pro Bono Publico.
