By an advertisement which appears elsewhere m our colums, it will be seen that the Catholic Church Bazaar will beheld on the 23rd, 24th and 25th instaut, m the Masonic Hall. We have a strong wish to see this bazaar well patronised, and for the following reasons : — ln the first place, the Roman Catholic members m Gisborne have been very liberal from time to time m contributions given to Protestant bodies. In the next place, the friends from the bazaar are intended to assist m building a Church. Now, the Catholics are not very numerous m Gisborne, and they are not very wealthy, which make their claims for assistance outside their own body all the stomger ; and, again, Catholics and Protestants have lived together almost m common brotherhood with each other m the Bay. There have been no invidious distinctions. The Catholic trades with the Protestant ; the Protestant with the Catholic, irrespective altogether of their respective religious beliefs. We have an Episcopolian Church, a Presbyterian Church, and a Wesleyan Church. The Catholics now want a Church for public worship. Not strong m themselves, from a money point of view, they ask other bodies to assist them. Then, we say, let it be done. Some \te,y, when the good time comes, there will be only one Church wanted for all men. But the good time is not yet, and so let us all give to the best of our means. The bazaar will contain many beautiful things will worth possessing, and, for this reason, if for no other, we hope to see it well patronised from the day it opens, until the evening when it closes.
