CENTENNIAL MEMORIAL
OPENING CEREMONY A mooting of the Centennial -Memorial Committee was held oil Wednesday evening, Mr. I’eaeoeke presiding. A suggestion was put forward that a fail day function from 2 p.m. be held, with a gala in the evening. This however was not adopted. Mr. 1). Ansley said he felt that it would be better to have two functions, the opening ceremony as arranged, and later on in tlie season a big gala day in (he domain'. It was pointed out that 2 p.m. was rather early for (those working during the morning, particularly if they had to get a. vehicle ready after work. Mr. A. A. ’Carey moved that it be a r eeommondat.iou to the Centennial Committee tint the procession, headed by the band, leave (the ’Town Hall at 2.:’,0. and tiie opening ceremony take place at 2.45 p.m. This was seconded by Mr. Willis and carried unanimously. The following agreed to form part’of tie procession.— Batea Municipal Hard, Patea Boxing Association, Maori Entertainers, Amateur Ataletic Association, Paten "Football Club. Patea Pnrf Club, Patea Women's Institute, Patea Plonker Ftneioty, Patea Fire Brigade. local Maoris, Pafea Troop Boy ‘“Touts, Baton Cirl Guides, Patea Golf Club. Any persons having ancient or modern vehicles are rnvitod to take part in the procession. ‘The local tradesmen are also to be invited to put exhibits in the procession. Air. B. Adams’ offer to iinterview the various tradespeople in this connection was accepted with thanks. An open invitation is extended to any sports or other body or any (individual having any vehicle suitable to lake part in the procession’.
