ROYALTY’S INTEREST
MERCANTILE MARINE DOMINION LINER VISITED The interest taken by the King and Queen in the officers and men of the British mercantile marine, particularly during the war, -was demonstrated at one of the London clocks recently. Shortly before a liner engaged in the New Zealand trade put to sea, rim Xing ami Queen paid a surpri.se and informal visit to the vessel. IT-i luvi is at present in New Zealand Avalors. The King and Queen boarded the Rryal barge up the Thames, and had lunch at the dorks. A>« they wulks.d along the dock side to * lie New Zealand -vessel, Their Majestu s were cheered by the dock workers. Trey boarded the vessel and were introduced to the captain. Then, for about, lea nninnt.es the King and Queen walked about the liner conversing Avith the officers and men. Their Majesties were again cheered as they left the vessel. From it they wont, to another \-ossel—a grain ship—which had just arr’iA'cd in the dork from overseas. There avo s. another surprise and informal inspection.
