GOLF SEASON CLOSES
■ Ou Saturday afternoon there was 'a largo attendance of players cn the ’links when the Waverley 'Golf Club held their closing - day. Warm sunshine favoured the members, but early in the day a stiff westerly was sweeping the links. Several competitions were held during the afternoon and the winners of the Canadian foursomes over nine holes were Mis. C. Smith (Patea), and Mr. J. Walkinton with a 3;> nett. The men’s long drive was .won by Mr. G. Harvey and the approach and putt by Mr. G. Watkins. Two putting competitions were held, the ladies’ being won by Miss Barker (Patea), and the men’s by Mr. B. Adams (Patea).
After a delectable afternoon tea had been enjoyed, Mr. B. Harvey, president of tire Golf Club, on behalf of the club, thanked Messrs Bremer Bros, for the use of their property, and said the club had been playing over the property for 33 years. He also thanked several members for the work they had done for the club. He welcomed Palea members and thanked them for putting bff their closing day tot come to Waverlcy, and then called on Mrs. p. G. Bremer to present the trophies to the successful members as .follows: Ladies’ senior championship: Mrs. I. D. Parsons; runner-up Mrs. I). Eiipton; ' junior championship, Mrs. Iv. Honevlield; runner-up Miss M. Dickie; C division, Mrs. W. P. Wallace; run-ner-up Mrs. W. Dalrymple; Wicks Cup Mrs. Iv. Honey field; runner-up Mrs. I; D. Parsons; Thompson’s trophy, Mrs K. Honevlield; Mrs. Iv. Honeyfields trophy, Mrs. C. Smith; qilver medal, Mrs K. Handley; bronze medal, Miss T. Aiken; senior eclectic, Mrs. I. D. Parsons; junior eclectic Mrs. Iv. Houeyfield. Men’s senior championship, I. D. Parsons; runner-up C. B. How; intermediate championship, G. Watkins; runner-up, J. Leckie; junior championship, M. DnlMson; runner-up, C. Mcdlieott. Cave Cup, B. How; run-ner-up, G. Watkins; O’Tlcilly Cup, F. Train; runner-up, K. Gibbons; season’s points prize, C. B. How; runner-up, E. Hammond; Thompson’s trophy, I?, g. Aiken and D.
