W.D.F.U.
There were nineteen members and several visitors at the; monthly meeting of the local branch of the W.D.F.U., Mrs. E. McGregor' presiding. The meeting opened with the singing of the New Zealand Anthem and reading of the “Creed.” The secretary read it/he minutes. Correspondence was dealt with and Airs. C. Handley, on behalf of the school committee, proposed that a letter of thanks be sent, .to Mrs. McPhail (Wanganui) for her help and .the interest she had taken in connection with the dental clinic visiting ,tlhe local school. After the usual routine business had been dealt with, Mrs. Olsen made an appeal on , behalf of the Makogai lepers. It was decided to donate one guinea to the fund. The forming of a glee club was discussed and tklo matter held over till the play-reading meeting. •An interesting talk on first-aid was given by Mrs. Gilhard, of Wanganui, who was accorded a vote of thanks.
A competition was held, Mrs. C. Hodgetts and Mrs. Roy Verry being tho winners. Airs. McGregor won the prize for the best apron made out of a sugar bag. The hostesses for the afternoon ten wore Mesdames P. Halting, Lee, N. Verry and Miss Lucy Wilson. Competitions for next month will be for bowl of flowers and hospital bcx.
