Miss E. Davidson, Napier, is spending a few weeks in Paitca. Mr. H. C. Kearney, of -Wellington, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Smith. 1 Mr. and Mins. iAj. B. Currie and family are visiting Wanganui. Mr. Currie is participating in the Belmont and Scafieldi golf tournaments. Sir James Parr, former High Commissioner for New Zealand in London, is returning to the Doaninion and is due to reach Auckland on October 28 by the Orcades, which is visiting New Zealand during a . cruise. Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Glenny, wlho have been on a visit to Patea, returned to Auckland on Saturday. Mr. S. C. Mercer, Christchurch, is at present visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. Mercer, Richmond Street. Y Mr. and Mrs. R. Miays left during the week-end for a holiday in the Tauranga and Auckland districts. Mrs. Chas. Masters of Stratford, who is shortly returning te Patea- t(o reside, has been the guest of honour at a number of farewell parties recently.

The death took place on Friday evening of Mrs. M. A. Lynds, mother'of Mrs. B. A. Hughes, of Whenuaknra. fThe deceased, who was 82 years of age, came to the Dominion from Glasgow when a child of two, and endured all the vicissitudes' of an early pioneer’s life. Of a particularly sweet and lovable nature, she made for herself a host of friends in the district during the twelve months she had resided With her daughter at Whenuakuna. She is survived by her husbamj and lior daughter, Mrs. Hughes, for whom the deepest sympathy will be felt in their bereavement.
