GIRL GUIDES

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. The monthly meeting of the committee of the Patca Girl Guides’ Association was held in the Borough Council chambers at 7.15 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11. Those present wore Mesdames F. Spooner, G. Williams, G. Mackcn, and Miss Muriel Hamcrton, Miss Kenworthy, and the hon. secretary. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Mesdames Ramsbottom, Prescott, Gunn, Watson, and Mis? Hamcrton. Miss Kenworthy was voted to the chair. Before commencing the .business of the meeting, Miss Ken worthy referred to the loss suffered by the president, Airs. Ramsbottom, in the death of her mother. All present stood in silence as a 1 mark of sympathy, and the secretary was instructed to send Mrs. Ramsbottom a letter of condolence from members. A resolution of sympathy with Airs. Prescott, Guide captain, in her illness was passed, and best wishes were expressed for her speedy recovery. Miss Hamcrton, Brown Owl, wrote tendering her resignation, to take effect from the end of the month, and thanking the members of the committee, the secretary, and all who had assisted her in any way. The resignation was received with regret, and it .was resolved to place on 'record the committee’s apprecia-tion-of Miss Hameyton’s work. The secretary said Miss Kuhfuss, Tawny Owl, was away for six weeks’ holiday, and Miss Hamcrton had promised to stay on until .her return. The Brownies would rc-assemble next Thursday afternoon.

The secretary reported that Miss Bond had consented to assist Miss Edwards with the Guides during Mrs. Prescott’s illness. The Guidos would rc-assomblc next Friday at 7 pan. It was decided to hold a Thinking Day' service in the Presbyterian Church on the third Sunday' this month, provided that is suitable to the Jtev. H. B. Burnett, and to ask the Scouts and Cubs to co-operatc. The meeting then rose.
