DEATH FROM BURNS
BOY PLAYING WITH MATCHES. CLOTHING CATCHES ALIGHT. While playing with matches early on Saturday morning Anthony Edwin George Herrick, the two year old son of IVI r. and Mrs. D. Herrick, Takapan.a, ‘Auckland, suffered fatal burns when the nightdress he was wearing c-’.ught alight. Mr. and Mrs. Herrick were startled shortly after 6.30 a.m. to hear screams coming from the room their son occ!upied, and they found the lad’s night ■attire in flames. Mr. Herrick immediately tore the clothing off the boy, who was badly burned about the body. A doctor was called and the boy was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where he was ‘admitted in a serious condition. Death occurred later in the afternoon. No matches were Tccpt in the boy’s bedroom, and it is thought he got out of bed and took a box from the kitchen.
