ENGLAND’S SMALLEST CHURCH

NOT NOW USED. t The smallest ..church in England is used for worship >no longer. It stands in the middle of a thick wood on the Tow mill estate at Wilmslow, Cheshire. Built of wood and stone, the ehurch is Id feet long, 12 feet wide, and If feet high, and till recently hud" an organ, a pulpit, pews for 12 people, and stained glass windows. The late Henry Boddington, of Manchester, a founder director of the .Ship Canal Company, built it of stones gathered from ancient temples all over the world. An oak tree, still there, was planted in the first sod 'cut to make the Ship Canal. The estate is now' owned by builders. The. hall where the Boddingtons lived is a school, and 'Wilmslow Council has charge of the organ. But the church andf its guardian oak still stand in the wood, which is to be preserved for ever.
