One .of’ tho Jirst actions of the Department of Labour and Employment since its recent reorganisation has been to proceed 'with an examination of tho numerical extent of the problem of youth employment; as an initial step to assisting the Government in its desire to devise a national scheme^for stimulating youth employment. The Minister of Labour; the Hon. T. In the main centres those officesi lari 1 -under ttirc Labour Department and in other centres they arc ■ controlled by .the local postmaster. The supplying of this information' by the youths would not be treated as registration as unemployed, and they would bo required -to furnish such particulars as arc required from applicants. for relief benefits. The immediate object is to secure an idea of the number, of youths who .would have to bo provided for under any plan that plight later be adopted.
