■ Mr. N. Gleuny, of the staff of the Olnua branch of the Bank of New Zealand, who has been 'spending his annual leave with his parents, Air. and Airs, W. C. Glenny, Patca, left -yesterday on his return. 1 He was entertained at a tenuis party at the nurses •* home on Saturday afternoon. Mrs. F. Zimmerman is an inmate of the Patca Hospital. . • Mr. T. Hammond, Wellington, was tile guest of Air. and Airs. IF Harris for the week-end. Air. Rex Hamorton, of Whenuakura. and a former Taranaki representative footballer, had the misfortune to have both arms rather badly burnt last week. Air. Hamcrton was overhauling •the engine of his car in the evening with tlio aid of a lighted candle, which was six or eight feet away. Whilst working at the engine- the fumes from the benzine- tank reached the flame of the candle, with the result that a slight explosion occurred, and in addition a can of petrol overturned and ■caught Arc. The fire, however, wins quickly subdued with the aid of a sack, and it was while boating out the flames that Air. Hamcrton sustained the injuries to his arms.
