PAPER CLIP REMOVED FROM CHILD’S LUNG
REMARKABLE OPERATION. ARTICLE SWALLOWED 3 YEARS AGO. A well-known doctor performed a remarkable operation in Sydney recently, when he removed a paper clip from a child’s lung, whore it had been embedded for three years. The child, a girl aged 10, had suffered from a chronic cough, and questions by the doctor led to a recollection that the girl thought she had swallowed a clip. -This was confirmed by X-ray and the doctor removed the obstruction without a surgical operation. Placing a gag in the girl’s mouth, he inserted a, bronchoscope down her throat and, with its aid located the two pieces of brass, then extracted botli pieces with an ordinary pair of surgical forceps.
