RETURNED SOLDIERS’ ASSOCIATION. NEW MEMBERS ELECTED. There was a well attended gathering of returned soldiers at Alton on Monday night to meet the president and members of the executive of the Patea branch of the association. flic president, in a brief speed'., outlined the objects of the association and pointed out that in times of stress like the present it was in the interests of all returned men to link up with the association. Lieut. Haddow and the secretary, Mr. A. A. Carey, also spoke and endorsed the president’s remarks. As a result of the gathering some nine returned men handed in their names as joining members of the association. All present were asked to make a special point of attending (he memorial service in the Patea Domain on Anzac Day. At the conclusion of the service the returned soldiers and their wives nr, invited to attend at the supper room of the Town Hall, where afternoon tea will be provided for them by the members of the Patea ’Women’s Institute.
