EXHIBITION OF FANCY DANCING
WAVERLEY
BY MISS ELVIEA WRIGHT'S PUPILS. On Friday evening the seating accommodation at the Town Hall was almost taxed to its limit, the occasion being the exhibition of fancy dancing by Miss Wright’s pupils. The function was arranged for the purpose of raising funds for the piano, which had been purchased for the Convent, and those in charge of the concert are very happy to notify that sufficient has. been cleared for that purpose, and the Sisters wish to thank all those who assisted in any .way with the concert, special thanks being due to Miss Wright, Miss Kennedy, Miss Fahey, Messrs. Crawford, Kennedy, and Lovegrove, and the violinist, who helped so splendidly during , the performance, which, from all points, was ihtJst successful, and - was much enjoyed by all present. The children, in their different parts, were very keen, and presented many pretty scenes, some that ’had not appeared before to a Waverley audience, and Miss Wright must have felt very gratified with the result of her efforts. .As is usual, Air. J. Crawford was in good voice, and had to respond to hearty encores each time. Air. A. Kennedy, who is practically new to the Waverley audience, was well received, and many will, look forward to hearing him again. At the close of the concert the priest oi the parish, Father Broughton, from the stage, thanked the artists, who had given such a pleasant evening’s entertainment; also the parents who had assisted, and those who had helped in any way. After the singing of the ‘National Anthem,’ supper was served, after .which the floor was cleared for dancing, which was kept going till the midnight hour. ,
