Since £2238 was outstanding in subscriptions and there was only £l3 cash in hand, perturbation at the state of' tlie iinanccs was expressed 'at the monthly meeting of the general coinmittee of the South Taranaki Automobile. Association at Hawera on Friday night. With a view to collectingoverdue subscriptions aubeommittecs with power to act as they thought best were appointed for the Hawera and Stratford districts.
A resolution that there bo no specific speed limit but* that driving to the common danger should be substituted was passed as a remit to the annual conference.
Disappointment was expressed at .the attitude of the, Minister of Justice in refusing to increase the. penalties for conversion of cars,? and at his “unsympathetic attitude" towards the taking of evidence by commission. .Members approved a remit from the North Island Motor Union suggesting that ' in: cases where a motorist -.was charged with a breach of . a by-law away from his home- town evidence might -be taken -at the nearest court to his residence and forwarded to the court of hearing.-
