GERMANS INHERIT FORTUNE
£10,000,000 FROM AUSTRALIA,
Berlin newspapers report that 32 persons in humble positions at Eilcnburg and Torgan, Germany, arc entitled to a fortune of £16,000,000 left by Johann Gottlieb Schoenc, who migrated to Australia in the middle of last century and made a fortune in gold-mining. Ho died intestate in 1899. A young domestic servant, Schoenc’s niece, inherits £500,000, and 30 other families are interested.
The locality of the gold mines is not stated, but it is reported that the Australian Government is arranging to transfer the fortune in instalments, placing the first £250,000 at the immediate disposal of the legatees.
