AUCKLAND FAMILY POISONED

SUDDEN ILLNESS AFTER MEAL

PATIENTS SHOW IMPROVEMENT,

Niue occupants of a house at Point Chevalier, Auckland, became ill on Friday night after tea and seven were removed to hospital suffering from ptomaine poisoning. Those taken to hospital were: George Lauchlan Dunn, aged 44, blacksmith; James Lauchlan Dunn, aged 21; George Dunn, aged 10; Mrs. Jessie Richards, aged’ 36, of New Lynn; Mrs. Annie Dunn, aged 44; Doreen Dunn, aged 12; Miss Clara Nelson, aged 20. Two others, Miss S. Dunn and Eric Dunn, were able to remain at home.

The household's evening meal consisted mainly of cold pickled pork, part of which had been eaten cold the previous evening, and tongue. All the patients arc improving.
