ANOUILH 10 PER CENT. SALARY CUT.
Savings totalling £2,970,£02 for next limuiciul year arc recommended in Hie interim report of the National Expenditure (Economy) Commission’s report, which was tabled in the House of Representatives on Friday afternoon. The commission comprised Mr. G. Shirtclilfc, chairman, and Messrs. J. J. Sssen, A. Macintosh, J. Begg, and •J. L. Griffin. The commission’s main recommendations include:
Another 10 per cent, wage and sal ary cut in the Public Service, representing a saving of 1-J millions.
A reduction in the number of members of Parliament. A conversion loan, and additional stamp duties for the purpose of reducing internal debt .charges. 'Widespread reductions in pensions payments, excluding war pensions, and the abolition, of certain pensions. The abolition of education boards and the establishment of a Central Advisory Board. The abolition of the Main Highways Revenue Fund and the Revenue Ac-
count. Sweeping reductions- in State administration costs.
