LEGION OF FRONTIERSMEN.
WAVERLEY
THE WAVERLEY TROOP. The Waverley troop of the Legion of Frontiersmen were the guests of Frontiersman and Airs. Boyer at. their resilience. “AlnVholm,” Karahaki Rd., on Wednesday last. The function took the form of a social evening, given by the members of the troop to theii wives and - o those ladies who )ia\c so generously assisted the legion in various ways, A most enjoyable time was spent, ami it is hoped to make the event an annual one. Among ’hose present were:-—Captain and Airs. Viekridgc (Hawjra-, Liutt. and Airs. Tonncnt. (“ Dumsiaffnage. ” Waverley), Air. and Airs. H. Stewart (Ngutuwcra), Air. and Mrs. Boyne, Mr. and Airs. C. H. Christensen, Air. and Airs. I. AVelsh, AD. aan Air.-. Neilsou, Miss Harvey, Miss Guthrie (Hawcra), Mr. and Airs. W. P. Wallace, Airs. Tennent, sen., Messra Ross. Pepper, Howie, Hartwell, Daly, Cowdell, Dr. Graves, and Masters Alan AVallaec and D. Boyer. Dining the evening items were given by Mrs. Tennent (song), Aliss Harvey (song), J. Ross (recitation). H. Boyer (song), T. Daly (song). A pleasant interlude was the presentation by Airs. Tennent (donor) of the handicap shooting shield to the first winner of the trophy, Frontiersman .1. W. Pepper. Captain Vickridge gave a short address on legion matters. The following toasts Svere honoured:—“The. King” (Frontiersman A. Howie), “Our Host and Hostess” (Captain Vickridge). There were several competitions during the evening, some of a humorous nature, the winner of the ladies’ section being Mrs. Ncilson and Aliss Harvey, and the gentlemen’s section Captain ATckridgo and Frontiersman J. AI. Hartwell. A most enjoyable evening was brought to a close Iby the singing of “Amid Lang Sync.”
