ENORMOUS TRADE LOSSES. BITLNG BJ.iM.TISH COMMENT. The Soviet's refusal to juoei the company 's claims lor £50,000,000 for properties confiscated in .1917 was commented upon by Air. Leslie Urquhart, chairman of Russia-Asiatic Consolidated, at a. meeting' in London. Mr. Urquhart pointed out as a result of the Soviet’s dishonest repudiation of its debts and obligations the Soviet Government trade bills ■were discounted at such high rates in every country of the world that its annual imports of 'worth '£70,0001000: or £80,000,000 cost it at least £20,000,000 per year more than would be paid by any honest nation. This sum, aggregating £250,000,000 during the past decade, would have gone a long way .towards an honest compromise with the creditors.
