LAWN TENNIS. OPENING OF THE COURTS. The formal opening of the local tenuis courts was held on Wednesday aiternooa, a very large number of players'assembling for the occasion. The courts were kepi busy throughout the afternoon by a Yankee tournament, which wa- finally won by .Miss .Gibbs and Mr. Fullarton, who played throughout without a loss. Mr. A. J. Gibbs, president of the (Hub, presented the trophies to the winning pair, and took the opportunity of wishing the club every success in the coming season, FLUNKET SOCIETY. NEW NURSE’S FIRST VISIT. Miss Horn'll, the newly appointed district Blanket Nurse paid her first weekly visit to Alton on Wednesday morning. She will be available for consultation at the Alton Library from 11 a.m. till 12 noon and from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday.
