LAST OF FALCONERS
DEATH OF THOMAS GEWIBE. The last of the Lincolnshire falconer!!, Thomas Do wire., was (recently found drowned in a pond at Farlesthorpe, with his feet tied together. Gowire, who was 78, was for many years falconer to Captain Lindsey, at Well Vale, near Alford. He was an expert at this craft, and until shortly before his death was frequently to be scon with falcons perched on his shoulders. Mr. Dcwirc possessed a remarkable knowledge of the history of falconry, and once represented the sport in the Lord Mayor’s Show. Discontinuance of his employment had left him very depressed.
