MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Beach Improve meat Society was held on Thursda.--night Air. L. F. Hemingway presiding. Messrs. Itobinsou (hon. sec.), Scott, !J. Fraser, G. W. Xing,, D. Boots, I. \V. Locker W. 0. Olenny, A torse, Adams, Bpooner, Fish, aud G. i rasci .core also present. Apologies for non-attendance were received from Alessrs. P. S. Finlayson, T. Nelson, and F. J. Stanford. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The question of improving the beach road was considered. The chairman said a parking place for cars was urgently needed at the end of the road. It was suggested utilising the left hand portion of the flat if the lupin were cleared, and also the portion at the end ox the road. The secretary reported that he had visited the beach with Air. Sedguian and had suggested the triangle near the Harbour Board shed for a dumping place for shingle, with another dump opposite. It was decided to write to the Harbour Board aud ask if they would allow the committee to clear two parking places for cars on the flat near the end of the present road, and also to level a small sand mound near the end of the clay road. It was decided to hold a working bee to clear the lupin and erect swings and soasaws as soon as a reply is received from the Harbour Board. Air. F. AV. Locker moved that Air. Glenny be asked to co-operate with the committee in the direction of keeping the road in order. Mr. Boots seconded the motion. Air. Glcnny said he had, unknown to the committee, put a largo amount of metal on the road, and his employees had standing instructions to repair the road as it "was to his interest to maintain it in good repair. As a matter of fact his drays, with IJ-iu tyres, helped to act as a roller and consolidate the road. No small amount of damage was done to the road through heavy cars travelling at high speed. The resolution was carried. it was also decided to straighten up the old parking' place at the top of the road as soon as possible. Air. Scott moved that a notice lie placed at the top of the road regulating the speed of curs to 12 miles an hour aud another notice at the end of the road forbidding cars to proceed j further than tiro end of the clay. Air. D. Fraser seconded the resolution which was carried. i The question of a carnival was considered, and it was unanimously resolved that a carnival be held in January. It was also unanimously resolved that liie Borough Council bo approached with a view to obtaining the necessary pipes and tank for a water supply for the- beach, estimated to cost about £2B, aud that if necessary the committee provide the requisite guarantee. Alcssrs. Locker and Bobiusou were appointed a committee to wait on the Borough Council at its next meeting with power to act. The election of officers was then proceeded with, resulting as follows: Patron: Air. J. Gibbs. President: Air. A. T. Christenson. Vice-presidents: Alessrs. F. Bamsbottoin, W. C. Glenny, and W. B.
