OR DINAR Y MEETIN G. The ordinary monthly meeting of the V.'nnganui Education iioard was held on Wednesday, Air. W. A. Collins providing. Messrs. Adams, Hemingway £ Oram, Hornblow, Woodruft'e, Dukeson, Coleman, and Tingey were also present. The following matters of local and general interest were dealt rvith inter alia:— ADDITIONAL CLASSROOM*. The Ohakea and Lytton Street Committees wrote conveying their thanks .o the board for improvements earned jut to their schools. The letters were received, members expressing their appreciation of the acknowledgment of their efforts. THE SCHOOL YEAR. The Education Department wrote stating that it was proposed to substitute three terms for four quarters during the school year. It was decided to support the proposal. SUBSIDIES TO COMMITTEES. The Education Department wrote stating that the matter of requiring committees to forward contributions in hand' when applying' for subsidies would be considered at the next Education Boards’ Conference. The let- . c-r was received. PERMISSION TO VISIT SCHOOLS. ’The Wellington branch of the Navy League wrote asking for authority for ,ts visiting officer to visit schools durng the next year. The necessary authority was given an the motion of Mr. Hemingway, seconded by v Air. Coleman. THE PATE A SCHOOL. The Patea Borough Council wrote -rating that owing to the cost of pnuip-i-.g water the request for complete (remission of the charge for water could not be grunted. It was the practice of the council to grant a 50 per cent, reduction. The letter was received, members expressing their appreciation of the council ’s action in granting the rebate. RESIGNATION OF AIR. W. E. HIRE. The resignation of Mr. W. E. Hire!, nead teacher. Taihape, was received, and it was decided to forward him a tetter of appreciation of the services : rendered by him during the many years ■ne has served under the board.
