his thanks to the management of the World's Pictures for their generous as sistaucc. The management, Mr. Hemingway said, wore always to- the fore in assisting anv good cause, and were

deserving of the hearty thanks of the whole community. The Domain Board was asking for funds, he explained, in order to carry out certain works, notably the painting of the large shed and the memorial gates, for which the ordinary revenue did not suffice. The memorial gates, Mr. Hemingway went Oil. to say, were erected in memory of the 'boys from Patea, Whenuakura, Alton, Hurlcyville, Manusahi. and Kakaramoa districts, and the people should see that the memory of the very gal-

lant boys who laid down their lives was kept green by keeping the gates in a thorough state of repair, otherwise ii would appear as if the dead wore forgotten and the memorial would fab ,in its purpose. Mr. Hemingway also paid a tribute to his colleagues on the board, who were working in an endeavour to make the town attractive to the public. They were catering espt dally for tourists, and offered them what was without doubt the best .■camping site in the Dominion. Mr. Hem- . ingway stressed the value of the Dpmain to the business people of , tlu town, and asked wnat would happen if the Domain were not kept up so that the games, which attracted such a large number of country settlers to the town on Saturdays in both summer and winter, could be played. The town, ho stated, would be like a " city of the dead.” In conclusion, he again thanked the management of the

World's Pictures for putting on the entertainment ,that nlgnt, and the new-ly-formed Patea Municipal Band under Mr. F. Spooney which had * performed so creditably prior to me dance, Mr. and Mrs. G. J. Gardiner for generous assistance, the Guides and Scouts for their offer to help whoa needed, and a’l who had helped to make the function a success. The picture was a thrilling, one, entitled “The Wyoming Wild Cat)'” which gave some wonderful exhibitions of horsemanship and some marvellous feats of .daring were performed. The picture kept the audience enthralled from start to finish.
