“GLORIOUS NEW ZEALAND”

ATTRACTIVE PICTURE

A REVELATION OF BEAUTY. FILM WORTHY OF DOMINION. At long last, New Zealand has secured a scenic Abu worthy of its glory and its wonder. “ Glorious Now Zealand/ 7 to be screened shortly in Patea, and which is at present showing in the northern centres, is an epic. Nothing approaching it has ever been shown in the Dominion, for it is New Zealand through and through, with the added charm of many glimpses of the mandated territories of Samoa and the Antarctic. Even to the most enthusiastic New' Zealander, “Glorious New Zealand 77 comes us a revelation of . beauty undreamed of. The beauties of Fiordland, the wonders of Rotorua, have been portrayed on a thousand picture postcards and in numerous Alms, but never before _auj they been showm in such comprehensive manner, in' such-, wonderful detail, as in this Aim. Everyone is. familiar with the outline of the ■ majestic Mitre Peak, but who has travelled foot by foot down the marvellous height of the highest waterfall in the world, who has sceu a real snow fight in progress on the frozen slopes of Ruapehu; or the actual landing of a 4501 b sea monster off Mayor Island?

THE THERMAL WONDERS. With the winders of Rotorua, again, every school child is more or loss familiar, but it has been left for “ Glorious New 7 .Zealand 77 to bring home to the people of the Dominion the awe-inspir-ing spectacle of the Champagne Pool in eruption at Wairakei, the boiling fountains, the hidden steam-hammer of Karepiti, and the swirl and rush of- the rapids below the Huka Falls. From ieefall to steaming volcano one passes swdftly during the tw'o-hour screening of this wonderful Aim, One secs the mighty ice-pinnacles of the Franz Josef, the mists of dawn clearing from the crest of Aorangi, monarch of the mountains, and then, in a moment, there is a glimpse of the steaming craters of Ruapehu and the boiling mudflowers of Rotorua. iNobody w'ill appreciate “ Glorious New Zealand 77 more than the great brotherhood of the rod and line, and perhaps only an angler could feel quite the right kind of thrill at the sight o.f crystal-clear streams alive with the gleaming forms of monster trout. It

seems incredible that any stream in all the w'orld could swarm with such myriads of big fish, but there it is, absolutely true to life.

BEAUTIFUL SCENIC EFFECTS,

The river scenery includes some charming glimpses of the Wanganui, but though it may sound like heresy, the views of the Mangahao River, above the great dam, are even more beautiful.. Here are some marvellous studies in reflections, which will be a veritable revelation to all who had thought that the Wanganui had a monopoly of the river beauty of New Zealand. And who shall describe the weird beauty of the River of -Uarlcncss that Hows beneath the (How-worm Grotto at Waitomo Caves? Hveu the glow-worms themselves are shown, teeming millions of them, with ail their tiny lamps well trimmed and' burning brightly. These are only a few of the wonders depicted'in “ Glorious New Zealand.'’ Aesthetically it is one of the finest things ever shown in the Dominion; from the material viewpoint, its value as an advertising medium can hardly bo over-estimated. A feature of the filming is the interesting talk given by Mr. Tano Pama, sometimes descriptive, sometimes dealing with Maori legend, and interesting historical facts pertaining to the days of long ago. Record attendances have greeted the marvellous picture wherever it has been shown, and when it makes its appearance in Patea in the near future, it is sure to meet with record houses.
