Thirty per cent, of the negro physicians in the United Rtates wore once Pullman porters, and a considerable proportion of the porters now in service arc studying for the profession. The Pullman Company endeavours to obtain the high-class of employees as porters, and every summer employs about .1000 to 4000 additional men, all coloured, most of whom are students in colleges and secondary schools.
