THE STRATFORD MOTOR FATALITY
SIX MONTHS’ IMPRISONMENT John Thomas Martin wns sentenced to six months’ imprisonment and was declared to be disqualified from obtaining a motor driver’s license for six years by Mr , Justice Alpers, in the Supreme Court at New Plymouth on Friday. Martin, who was a farmer on the Pembroke Road, had been found guilty two days before of having been responsible for the death of Thomas Brazier Battle, at Stratford, on March 18th, the evidence showing that the prisoner was in a state of drunkenness while driving his motor car, and had run down Brattle who was cycling along the Mountain Eoad.
