TOM MIX This Fox picture, “For Big Stakes,'' tells of Arizona, plots and adventure, of deeds worth doing, of one man in particular, and of the girl ho loves. Incidentally, if you have an appreciation for horses who display almost human intelligence, the performance of Tony, Tom Mix's horse, will delight you. : j a The personal work of Mix throughout the photoplay is up to his highest level. There are many strikingly force ful points in the progress of the. story, but that which impresses itself most strongly on the imagination is the fine direction shown in the handling of a prairie fire. Earely has a fire scene been so well done. Tom Mix does some remarkable shooting, some skilful ropethrowing, and riding of the finest sort. In fact, a good description of this photoplay, in one line, would be: A forty-four calibre film that hits the bull's-eye. The appeal of the story is almost universal. There is something in the picture to attract everyone.
