WAIROA RUGBY SUB-UNION.

A meeting of the management committee of the Wairoa Eugby sub-Union was held on Monday, Mr McWilliam presiding. Messrs E. C. Dallison, G. M. Beer, A. Simpson, W. Hurley, Wakaroa, and P. C. Paris, (secretary) were also present.

Insurance. — A discussion took place as to the best method of insuring play, ers the majority of delegates being of opinion that insurance should be compulsory. After a lengthy discussion it was do. cided on the motion of Mr Paris, seconded by Mr Beer, that all players in competition matches must be insured.

It was resolved that Messrs Dallison and Paris be trustees for the insurance fund.

Mr Hurley said that as some clubs were only entering junior teams this years steps must be taken to protect the juniors by preventing any senior players from playing in junior teams. The personnel of the teams were then read and after some minor adjustments the following teams were approved; l — (2), Waitotara (2), Rauru (1) The Secretary reported that .Kai Iwi were only entering a junior team and they had not yet forwarded their list of players, also that he had received nb word from the Opaku Club. - Mr Simpson .then brought up the mat. ter of players leaving the district and playing for outside clubs. It was resolved that the secretary write the Unions concerned.

Mr Simpson also .referred to the players not wearing their proper colours. Ho said the rules should be strictly enforced in this respect. It was decided that the competitions start on May 6th. The arrangements in connection with the seven-a-side tournament were left till next mooting.

The Chairman said he would like to see a referees association formed. It would benefit all concerned if referees could meet occasionally. There were many things that they co.uld discuss in connection with the proper interpretation of the rules.

Mr Simpson said he would try to arrange a meeting at Waitotara in the near future.

: Mr Hurley said that while on the subject of. referees ho thought they did not pay sufficient attention to players' boots. A man that went on to the field with nails projecting from the s*uds was a danger to others. He con. sidcrcd that referees should make it a rule to inspect the boots. Accounts totalling £4/19/- were passed for payment and the meeting rose.
