WAR MEMORIAL.
Now that the question of a War Memorial has been definitely settled, we hope the people will see to it that it is made worthy of the town amt district, and expresses in a (it and proper manner the gratitude of the public for Hie sacrifices that have boon made. As His Worship the .Mayor very rigidly pointed out at last night’s meeting, it would be a standing disgrace if no memorial were to be erected. The brave lads whose memory the memorial is to perpetuate, cheerfully and ungrudgingly gave their all—ito the last drop of their young hearts’ blood —in order that we and the rest of the world might live in security ami comfort. Barely, if we have any spark of gratitude in our hearts we will see to it that some recognition is made of the sacrifice —so fittingly termed “The Supreme Sacrifice” —that has been made. We hope to see every person contribute something —cadi according to bis means-—so that the memorial may soon be an accomplished fact, and serve for ever to keep green the memory of Hie dear lads to whom and the rest who fought in. the Great Mar, we owe everything we possess to-day. Subscriptions, which may be left at the “Press” otlicc, or at the Bank of Now South Wales, will be acknowledged in our columns in due course.
