It is hereby notified for public information that it is proposed to make inquiries during the recess with a view to revising the Customs Tariff during the season of TOR 1. All persons making contracts for the delivery of imported goods, either subject to duty or winch may become subject to duty, should protect themselves either (1) by introducing therein a Clause governing possible change of duty, or (*2) by giving immediate notice where contracts arc already in force, or where there are running contracts, that, in the event of alteration of the duty, the provisions of Section l.‘!0 of the Customs Act, It)Id, must apply. It is proposed to amend this Section to cover alteration not only in the liability of goods to duly or the rate ol duty, but also in the amount of duty.
