WAVERLEY TOWN BOARD.

ORDINARY" MEETING,

The ordinary meeting of the Waverier Town Board was held on Wednesnight, Mr. A, J. Adlam presiding; Messrs. Beer, Davis, Oliver, and Christenson were also present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mr. J. B- Patton wrote asking for permission to erect a sign in front of his shop.

It was decided that permission lie granted provided the sign did not interfere with the traffic.

The Defence Office wrote asking if the Board was willing to hand the German machine guns over to the school.

The Clerk stated that the gnus had been allotted to the Town Board, who had given the school the use of them for educational purposes, the guns to be kept in the school, but to remain the property of the Board. No further action was taken matter.

The Leviu-Marton Railway League wrote stating that the Minister of Public Works would be going over the proposed new site towards the end of Die month, and asked the Board to send a representative. The letter was received.

Mr. Davis brought up the question of the Cape weed in the salcyards section leased from the Board by Messrs. Dalgcty and Co. and the N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. The Clerk stated that a notice had been sent to have the weed cleared. Mr. Davis moved -that a registered notice be sent to Messrs. Dalgcty and the Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., stating that the Cape weed must be cleared from the section.

Seconded by the chairman and car ried.

It was also decided to issue a notice to Messrs. F. R. Jackson and Co., Ltd., in Regard to Cape weed. Mr. Oliver reported that he did not know how the Fire Brigade wore progressing with their finance. No meeting of the committee had been held since last Board meeting.

The chairman reported that Mr. Christensen and himself had visited the power-house, and inspected the fall of papa. It had been decided to enclose the whole gap with decking, which would render it quite safe. The action of the committee was endorsed.

Mv. Beer referred to the footpath an front of Mr. R. P. Palmer’s premises. A resolution had been passed at last meeting to the effect that no action be taken. After inspecting the place he was of opinion that the work should be gone on with. He would like to see the resolution rescinded. Mr. Davis said it was no good passing resolutions at one meeting and rescinding them at the next. Mr. Beer moved that the resolution governing this work be rescinded. Seconded by Mr. Oliver and carried. The matter of repairs to the footpath was left in the hands of Mr. Christensen. Messrs. Beer and Davis reported on work done at the cemetery. As far as could bo seen the custodian did not have two set days per week to work •at the cemetery. It was decided that two days per week be fixed for the caretaker to work at the cemetery, the caretaker to nominate the days most convenient to him. This concluded the business of the Town Board. ° WAVERLEY DOMAIN BOARD. The same members then sat as the Waver ley Domain Board. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Mrs. Mathicson wrote at length in regard to repairs to her fence. The letter was received. WAIROA domain board. A short sitting of the Wairoa Domain Board was then held. A plan of the Domain was laid on the table. It was decided to ask Mr. Tucker tor particulars of tree-planting on the Domain property. Mr. Christensen said the surfaceman had no moans of conveyance to the lie a eh, where he had some work to do. the Beach Committee. Oliver said the Board’s own section was nearly overgrown with weed. This auatter was also left- in the hands of the committee. The meeting adjourned at 1) pmi. bowling-. PATE A RECOVERS THE BANNER. A rink of bowlers from Patca played a match on the local green on Wednesday for the Banner, which was held by the Wavcrlcy Club. The game was most interesting, and in parts very exciting. During the first .12 heads both rinks played evenly, but towards the end the visitors drew away from thoir opponents, and the game finally ieHiiltcd in the Patca team recovering the Banner. The following are the scores; — Patca Halbert, Paterson, Elliott, and Carey —25. Wavcrlcy—Harrison, Nteholls,- Dallison, Merriman —12.
