“The Brass Check” Wednesday. A brilliant programme will be screened to-iii fr ht at the fown TT e.ll. Several lots of films that have been delayed in transit have come to hand and the two best features and a first-class Christie comedy have been chosen from these for to-night’s programme, and picture patrons arc earnestly advised to see it as they are assured of receiving extra quality as well as quantity for the usual price.

“The Better ’Ole” Saturday An all-British production from the famous play by Captain Bruce Bairnsfather, which has been running in London for the last two years, and which is now having an unprecedented success throughout the Dominion, will he screened at the Town Hall on Saturday next under the direction of Leo De Chateau’s International Attractions. “The Bettor ’Ole” is not a war cartoon, or even a war story. It is England’s master-picture production of Bairnsfathcr’s immortal characters, Old Bill, Bert and Alf. The men who stand as symbols of the old army, the men who paved the way, and the new army that came to help to “carry on”. Laughter often akin to tears permeates many situations. Old Bill, Bert and Alf arc compared to the three musketeers, but the latter characters were n«v#r such human heroes. A thread of love interest is interwoven through the delightful play. “The Better ’Ole” may be summed up as a play of sunshine, with an occasional cloud of pathos and intermittent summer showers of broad humour. The box plan is open at the Town Clerk’s office ; patrons should hook their seats.
