PRESENTATION.

A very pleasing function took place at the local Druids’ Lodge last night when the members foregathered to bid farewell to Bro, J. R, Paterson, who is leaving shortly to take up his residence in Whaugarei, Bro. S. Hird presided over the gathering. Bro. Christensen, in a brief speech expressed the deep regret of the brethren at losing so faithful and trustworthy a member as Bro Paterson bad been. On behalf of the Lo 'go ha wished him every success in his new sphere. He asked Bro Paterson to accept a purse of sovereigns from the members as a slight token of the regard and esteem felt for him by all, Bros. Priestley, Ramsbottoiu, Lavery, Spooner, A, Holtham, and S. Ilird also spoko and expressed their regret at Bro Paterson’s departure. Bro Paterson, in reply, said he could not find words in winch to thank them one and all for their handsome present and their kind expressions o f ' goodwill He would never forgot the happy days spent amongst them in the Lodge. Though ho was leaving them ho hoped to revisit his old home from time to time when ho would see to it that ho mot tho brethren again. [ Applause). During tire evening bro Ramsbottorn tendered his resignation us Treasurer of tho Lodge and was duly installed as Secretary in place of Bro Paterson. Bro, Lavery was appointed Treasurer in Bro. Rumsbottorn’s place.
