Trouble in Royal Household. Queen Mary's anti-gambling crusade amongst her servants has raised a, hornets' nest about Hie cars of the Royal Family, and a general strike was threatened.

For years it lias been the custom for Die servants to ballot for the right to accompany the King and Queen on the Royal yacht at the (.'owes Regatta. This year the Queen selected the maids herself., -declaring that she did not approve of the previous method of selection. There was, however, so great a disturbance amongst the maids that the Queen was forced to cancel the order and allow the ballot to stand.
