FOOTBALL.
PATEA FOOTBALL CLUB. On Tuesday evening a meeting of those interested in the formation of a Football Club inPatea was held in the Central Hotel. There were over 25 present. Mr Cargill was voted to the chair. The Chairman, after explaining tho. S object of the mealing, asked for an expression of opinion as to whether a new club should be constituted or whether they should regard themselves as the old club. After some discussion it was decided thahgnew club to be called the Paten Club be formed, * The election of officers resulted follows: —President, Mr H. 0. Clarke; Vice-Presidents, Messrs GK Williams, W. C. Symo's, GK V. Pearce, T. Campbell, T, Thompson, A. Pearce, Cargill; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr Westoby ; Management Committee, Messrs T. Campbell, Jacomb, Thurston and A. Pearce; Delegate to Union, Mr Westoby; Auditor, Mr Cargill. Tho election of captain, vice-captain, and the selection committee was held over until later in the season. The Management Committee with Messrs P. Sheehan and J, Paterson were appointed a committee to draw up rules and byelaws. The subscription of the Club was fixed at 2s 6d. It was decided that the colors be ' black. Saturday was fixed as the travelling day. The date of opening the season was left in tho hands of the Management Committee. A vote of thanks to the chair terminated the meeting. WAYERLEY FOOTBALL CLUB.
The annual meeting of the above Club was held in the Oiarendou Hotel on Saturday evening, over 40 members attending. Mr E. P. Symes presided. The annual report and balance sheet were read and adopted. The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £l2 19s 2d. Twenty-five new members were elected. ; The following officers were elected: President, Mr 0. Hawes; VicePresidents : Messrs W. - H. and M, H. Wybourne, G. Howie, J. L. Eiley, W. Wilson, E. Bremer, and W. Muir; Captain, 0. Symes; DeputyCaptain, J. Emslie; Combined Secretary and Treasurer, Messrs A. E. Mathieson and L. Wybourne; General Committee, Messrs E. P. Symes, W. H. Wybourne, Q. Peacock, Captain, Doputy-Captain and the Secretaries. Match Committee, 0. Symes, J. Emslie and 0. Sheehan. It was decided to join the Wanganui Eugby Union. The subscriptions were fixed at 2a I 6d instead of 5s as in previous seasons. ’ It was resolved to open the season on March 19th with a practice match. It was decided to try and put in three teams in the field this year.’ A hearty vote of thanks to the chair, and to Mr Eiley for the use of the room concluded the meeting.
