PATEA WEST ROAD BOARD.
The regular meeting of the above Board took place on Friday, when there were present—Messrs 0. Symes (chairman), Alloa, Hudson, Morrison, Nicholas and O’JSullivau. Minutes of former meeting read and confirmed. Correspondence dealt with. Mr Bail waited on the Board to ask permission to erect a wire fence on Ball road, to protect his box thorn fence.—G ranted. Mr Fcrgusson waited on the Board relative to expenditure of thirds on horse track, and Mr Morrison reported on same track. The secretary was instructed to write to the Land Board for the fourths on the section lately taken by Messrs Nairn and Matthews, the latter gentleman having applied to the Board to open the road. Referring to Maid no road it was resolved on the motion of Mr Morrison, “That the work of further clearing on this road bo let to Mr McDowell for IV); work to bo completed to the approval of Messrs Morrison and Alton.” . Mr Hudson raised the question of the deviation of Otoia road, but "was informed that no alteration could uow be made. Mr Morrison reported that ho could see no reason for withholding payment for the Makino road contract and recommended that the amount bo paid. The chairman and Mr O’Sullivan wore deputed to attend to work on the road towards Mr Hamilton’s gate. Mr Hudson drew attention to the state of the Kakarumea road, one of the culverts having been destroyed through the bursting of Ward’s dam. Messrs Allen and Hudson were appointed to inspect the road, and report at next meeting. Statement of accounts shewed available for expenditure—General Account £lB4. 11s 4d; D.P. Account £95 Is; Interest Account £45 9s lOd. Accounts amounting to £25 3s lid General Account, and £l7 18s 4d D.P. Account were passed for payment. On the motion of Mr O’Sullivau, the secretary was instructed to write to Mr Ward and inform him that the Board would hold him responsible for any damage done to ICakararaea and "Wilson roads through his dam breaking away and washing away the road. Mr Morrison reported on Clifford road alterations, and Messrs Morrison, Allen and Nicholas wore appointed to continue authorised work, Mr Ross’ appointment as ranger was cancelled, and Mr N. Prouso was appointed in his stead. The Board then adjourned.
