WAITOTARA.
[Special to Mail,] •. School Committee.— A special meeting of the Wailotara School Committee was held in the Schoolroom on Saturday evening., Present—Messrs Stent (chairman), Dorse, Wilkie, Hurley, and Buckingham, A letter was read from tho Schoolmistress, informing the Committee of a parent calling at the school and interfering with her school duties. It was resolved that the parent be written to, drawing attention to Clause 96 of the Education Act, and also requesting that any complaint be made to the Committee in writing. We have had a visit from Mr McGregor, one of the members of the Education Board, and Mr: Fouliss, Inspector of Schools ; and no doubt they will - see that some of the requirements of the school are laid before the Board at its next meeting; ;THE' contractor has completed the Bailway Station buildings, and the ballasting of the line to the river is being'pushed along, ; ; J ■ The freshet in the river from thejlate rains is delaying the ; bridge, operations}
part of the scaffolding being washed away. The balance of the timber for the bridge is coming forward now. So that in three months wo may expect to see the line opened through. A party of sportsmen were away yesterday, all intending to bring home big bags as the result of their sport.
