RAPE SEED
MAY NOT BE AVAILABLE Electric Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, Nov 25 'Hie New Zealand Government had been recently advised by the British Government that import licenses for the 1942-43 crop of New Zealand rape seed might not be available, thp Minister of Marketing, Mr Barclay, said tonight. The British Government also stated that it might not allow the importation of ryegrass and rod clover seed, and that white clover seed might be banned in the following season. The serious effect such a prohibition would have on New Zealand farmers who had undertaken the production of these seeds for Britain had been pointed out. Mr Barclay said, and the matter was still under negotia - tion. In the meantime', further contracts for the production of seed should be made with caution until the Government could make a definite announcement. Seeds for home consumption and other markets apart from Britain were still required.
