OBITUARY

MR F. J. GILBERT. # % The death has ocrurred of Mi Frederick James Gilbert , To A warn utu, brother of the Rev. H. G. Gilbert. Hamilton. Bor n< at Summer Hills, Canterbury, 65 years ago, Mr Gilbert farmed in North Canterbury during his early manhood and in 1897 *vith his four brothers acquired a block of unimproved country at Coonoor, in the Forty Mile Bush district. He came north to Te Awamutu about 30 years ago and established himself as a photographer acid music supplies dealer. He took an active part in local and public affairs serving on the Borough Council, *the Chamber of Commerce, the school committee aud several other bodies. He was a past Worshipful Master of Lodge Waipa, and for several years had been secretary of that lodge. He is suivived by bis wife, a son and a daughter.
