BY R.A.F. IN DESERT (Received 10.10 a.m.) (British Official Wireless) RUGBY, Oct. 1. Our Middle East Headquarters at Cairo state that during Tuesday night patrol activity continued. Yesterday there were artillary exchanges in tlie central sector. Landing grounds at Sidi Haueish and targets at Tobruk, Bardia and Solium were attacked ou Tuesday night. Enemy air activity has been on an increased scale over tlio battle area and included Stuka and fighter bomber attacks. Our light bombers and lighter-bombers also operated and two long-range fighters encountered •four enemy bombers near Mersn Matruh and shot three down without loss.
